'Tis the Playoff Season
What’s more fun than watching your favorite sports team? Watching your favorite sports team make a run in the playoffs! As Fall sports are quickly wrapping up, teams are entering the postseason. The postseason starts after all regular season games are finished in tournament-style matchups where teams or individuals have a chance to qualify and then hopefully take home a state championship title.
Irish athletics have been gearing up for this thrilling part of the season and look forward to representing our community. To kick off the playoffs, our girls varsity golf team is playing at Heritage Glenn Golf Course in Paw Paw today, October 9th. They are fighting to secure a top 3 team finish so they can compete at states. When asked about the girls’ golf team, Chris Adams, Assistant Athletic Director said, “They are a young team, no seniors, but have consistently lowered their scores throughout the whole year.” It is looking promising for our Lady Irish. There is no doubt they will be successful.
And following the girls, on Thursday, October 10th, our men's varsity tennis team travels to Allegan for their Regional test. Senior Tyler Brand says, “I am stoked for playoffs on Thursday because it will give us a chance to prove others wrong and that we can compete with other teams in our area.” As Ty Brand says, the men are excited and ready for their big test. Throughout the season, the Irish have displayed their grit and heart for the game. They are extra hungry to redeem themselves after falling short in qualifying for states. Our Irish could use some extra support from our fans so be there and show some Irish spirit!
