SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Borton Makes History

Ever wonder what happened in 1916 on a Wednesday at 3:27 pm during WWI? Well if you are wondering, ask no one other than Roan History Buff Borton, who will give you a spot-on answer. Roan has surely made a name for himself at Hackett, known as the class of 2025 History wiz. He worked hard for this reputation, often bringing up historical events in class and knowing detail by detail what happened long ago.

Roan Borton, is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable students who has a burning passion for US history and even plans to follow his heart, majoring in History at Xavier University in Cincinnati. Roan Borton said, “I have regular hobbies like video games, Legos, and comics, but the one thing I love is learning about history.” In his free time, you can catch him watching YouTube videos on historical events, specifically ones with primary sources, and reading articles about U.S. and World History. 

His love for History dates all the way back to when he attended Gagie school and was required in 4th grade to do a project regarding history. Roan explained his experience stating, “You research a historical theme they pick for you and you can either choose to do a performance, a poster board, or a paper. I chose to do a performance with my friends and we performed the skit on the hellfighters in WWI.” This is one of his earliest memories, but also, his favorite memory because it shaped the rest of his learning trajectory and also kindled that love for history. 

Paired right with his passion for History, you might hear about Roan’s side quests usually traveling overseas. “I like to travel and visit different places all over the world. I recently went on one of my favorite trips with my friends to Punta Cana.” Roan embodies the ideal tourist indulging in activities and visiting tourist sites. Some of his favorite places to visit outside the country were Canada, the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, and Turks and Caicos. Stay on the lookout for Roan’s next big adventure!
