Take a break from studying for exams on Saturday and get festive at the ice rink this weekend by watching just under 100 of your local figure skaters perform in Greater Kalamazoo Skating Association’s annual Holiday Ice Revue! This Christmas ice skating event showcases GKSA’s learn to skate members and competitive skaters–including national medalists. There are two shows on Saturday, December 14. Showtimes are 2:30 pm and 7:00pm at Wings Event Center.

Two of Hackett’s seniors, Lindsey and Amanda Piel, will perform in the show for the last time. Both girls are skating their senior solo to the song “Believe” from the polar express at the end of the show.

Sophomore Christina Amat will be skating in three group numbers with Amanda and Lindsey. This includes the opening and closing group number. Her solo is in the first section of the show to “Waltz of the Flowers.” When asked about the show she said that she is excited to do a double toe jump and, “I always enjoy skating the program to perform for fun rather than competing”.

Precious Ongwela is a Hackett freshman who will be skating in two group routines. This year will be her debut! She says, “I’m excited to perform because it’s my first ice show.”  In addition to our four Hackett students skating under the spotlights, a special guest all the way from the North Pole will make an appearance in the finale!

The show features four sections including Nutcracker Fantasy, Winter Wonderland, Magical Adventures, and Holiday Classics. There will be an intermission between the first and second half, which is a good time to visit concession stand #4 for snacks and drinks. Tickets can be purchased in advance, or at the ticket office when you arrive through door 10. General admission is $20, but students with ID and senior citizens can buy them for $15. Children aged five and under can enter for free. The proceeds help to fund the skating club throughout the year–so come support the skaters for a holly jolly time!
