HOWie is Going to Save Bowling, Kyler's Conundrum and Trapper Bowls a Turkey
Hackett’s bowling team could have a possible Cinderella year and then not even exist the next year--it all has to do with a key player named Howie. Hackett's bowling team is on the rise after a great game against the ranked K Christian team. Although Hackett took the loss, it was a close game even with key player Parker Hosner absent. An excellent game was turned in by star players Howard Deneau and Kyler Higgins who both bowled a 166. The team has a good roster this year with even senior Kyler Higgins going as far as saying, “We should win states this year.”
There are many story lines with this dynamic team but the most outstanding seems to be senior Harrison Wheeler. Wheeler was state material before his tragic car accident and, coming off of injury this year, he is looking to bounce back, prove all the haters wrong, and make it to states. This year's team is dependent on Wheeler and it’s 3 other seniors: Higgins, Deneau, and Phillips. With a heavy upperclassman presence, there are four seniors, four juniors and one freshman.
Bowling teams require five players. Currently, six or seven with a loaded senior class leaves it up in the air for whether or not there may even be a team next year. So with a last hoo-rah in the making, all eyes are on--surprisingly enough--Hackett's bowling team.
When junior Parker Hosner was asked about this year's team he said, “This year the bowling team has many strong bowlers, and I think we are going to do very well. Every week we are getting better and hopefully next year we will still have a good team (even though we probably won't).”
No one ever goes to bowling matches besides parents. Though it is rumored that Mr. Adams attended one game for a half hour. If there was ever a year to go, this year is our year. Support the Hackett community and show up to tonight's match v.s. Burro. Last year, they lost to Burro every time they faced them, but with some more experience this year, the team is out for revenge.
With all that being said, Howard Deneau is going to save the program. When Parker was asked about Howie he said,
“He never bowled before and he just cooked last year. He just tried it and he got good, and now he's really, really good.”
With Howie and Harrison on the up rise, mark my words, this team is gonna go on a run. The Cinderella team is upon us and it’s gonna be a ton of fun to watch. Everyone who plays has fun and it means something to players. This is a great way to support our community so participate if you can!
