A New Path to Success

It’s time to jump-start your careers by taking classes at the brand new KRESA Career Center! Kalamazoo’s Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) has established and begun construction on the 100 million dollar facility that will offer most of the country’s Career and Technological Education (CTE) programs to high school students. The CTE programs will allow students to start taking classes shaped around potential careers that they might pursue. From cosmetology, to medicine, to the trades, this Career Center will provide hands-on classes and certifications.

Senior Harrison Wheeler is in his second year of CTE classes and has some insight into the quality and usefulness of these classes. “I’ve taken electrician classes with the CTE program, which I like way more than the classes I take at Hackett because they are more useful. Also, it is something I am interested in doing since I want to go into the trades.” Harrison is on the right track to starting his career and is expected to graduate high school with six college credits thanks to the CTE program.

The Career Center plans to open in the Fall of 2025 at 3500 VanRick Drive, as the central headquarters for the Kalamazoo CTE programs. Other satellite locations will be available, but the centralized locations provide easier transportation, better integration of academic curriculum, and more advanced work-oriented areas.

The Career Center and CTE programs could kickstart your career and give you the advantage to success beyond high school. If you are looking to start taking more interactive and useful career classes, then you should definitely consider applying to the Career Center.
